Taihang Mountain Expressway runs through Taihang Mountain area, with a total length of 652 kilometers, starting from the Beijing-Hebei boundary in Zhuolu County of Zhangjiakou and ending at the Hebei-Henan boundary in Shexian County of Handan City, passing through 19 counties in 5 cities of Zhangjiakou, Baoding, Shijiazhuang, Xingtai and Handan, with 44 interchanges and 18 connecting lines connecting with 11 expressways and dozens of national and provincial trunk lines.

During the construction of expressway, ecological restoration was carried out simultaneously, and the slope greening rate reached 90%.
In terms of safety, Taihang Mountain Expressway has vigorously promoted technologies such as color anti-skid pavement, line-of-sight guidance technology, rotating barrel guardrail and full coverage of high-definition monitoring system, and upgraded the steel guardrail from the traditional "two waves" to "three waves" in the first batch to improve the safety factor.
The whole expressway has the function of non-cash payment, and the technology of non-inductive payment is leading in the country. The first "unattended toll station" in the country was built in Lincheng North Toll Station to create an intelligent high-speed.

Relying on the Taihang Mountain Expressway, the planning and construction of "one road and three belts" will be carried out along the line, and three green industrial belts will be promoted, namely, the eco-cultural tourism industrial belt, the mountainous agricultural industrial belt and the traditional Chinese medicine health care and pension industrial belt.
Taihang Mountain is known as the "800-mile Taihang Mountain with 800-mile scenery". After the completion of the expressway, it will directly connect 53 scenic spots of 4A level and above.
These red tourist attractions or natural landscapes, such as the former site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Xibaipo, Pingshan, the former site of the headquarters of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region in Fuping, the former site of the headquarters of the 129 th Division in Shexian, the Baishishan in Laiyuan and the Taihangqi Canyon in Wu ‘an, have become shining pearls on the Taihang Mountain Expressway.
